The Outdoor Period Pledge: a commitment to menstrual equity in outdoor adventure spaces

Menstruation isn’t optional. So why is it still missing from outdoor education?

We’re building a new standard for outfitters, guides, and nonprofits leaders who give a damn.

Because everyone should be able to confidently manage their body outdoors - period.

Outdoor equity includes periods.

Outdoor equity includes periods. 🌲

If people can’t confidently manage their bodies outside, they’re not fully included.

And no one should miss out on adventure because of their period.

The Outdoor Period Pledge is a commitment by guiding companies, outfitters, travel organizations, and outdoor brands to normalize and support menstrual health in outdoor spaces.

It's free, it’s flexible, and it signals that your trips are ready for every body.

Organizations who take the pledge agree to implement practical, inclusive policies and practices that empower all bodies to thrive outside, every day of the cycle.

It’s better for your business, the people you serve, and the planet!

Take action on 5 of 7 menstrual equity practices and earn your digital badge to display digitally or in print to the public to show that you’re an ally for menstruators outdoors.

Show the world you’re not just checking a box—you’re shifting outdoor culture to be more body-positive and inclusive.

“What Do I Need to Do?”:

How the Outdoor Period Pledge Fosters an Inclusive Outdoors:

As the founder of the Outdoor Period Pledge, I want every menstruator to feel confident in their body while outdoors.

Angie here! 👋 I’ve always loved the outdoors, but I ignored my menstrual cycle for most of my life.

It took a life-threatening experience with birth control for me to finally pay attention to this body experience that affects half the population (and is the reason for 100% of the population being here!).

After years of teaching fertility awareness to outdoor athletes, I wrote a book about the creative mindset side of the menstrual cycle, and now I work with outdoor brands to shape the future of women’s adventure, striving for equity outdoors and in. I want all people feel at home in their bodies—especially outside.

This pledge is one step toward that future. It’s not just about period products or policies; it’s also about access, dignity, and leadership for all bodies.

Periods are just one part of my work encompassed by “BLOOD, SWEAT, AND FEAR.” <— I lean into tough topics affecting women today through brand campaigns, creative consulting, live events, and more. Poke around my services if ya wish.

Thanks for being here. You're part of a movement that’s long overdue!
